Health

The Model Health Inquiry will consider a wide variety of factors which are related to the health and welfare of models on the catwalks at London Fashion Week with the aim of establishing the extent of any health issues, notably in relation to body size and shape. Furthermore, the panel will identify any initiatives which they deem to be appropriate in order to address any material size related health concerns and to manage the health of London’s models.

The major health and welfare issues the Inquiry panel will look at include:

  • The number of hours worked by models
  • International travel commitments
  • Diet and eating habits
  • Drug and alcohol habits
  • Eating disorders
  • The age of models
  • The industry's preference for thin models
  • Casting and selection processes for models
  • The number of mentoring and training programmes in place
  • The level of general support and education for models, for example on how to look after themselves while working
